Hey guys! I’m here again, writing my miserable pile of
blogs.
My class and our teacher are watching a movie in the LB
Lesson (yay)! The title of the movie is called “War Horse”. This is an old
movie that takes place in WWI and overall, it is about horses, wars and such.
So here is the beginning: the movie start with the born of a
foal. This foul is later called Joey. This horse was sent to the auction with
her mother. Joey was taken to the auction; leaving her mother. In the auction,
a man named Ted Narracott see Joey as a good horse. Not only him that saw
Joey’s a good horse, his landlord, Lyons, was interested too.Then Ted and Lyons have an auction battle and Ted gave his best
bet with “30 Guineas!” and went home with Joey. As Joey and Ted arrived, Ted’s
wife, Rosie, got mad that Ted did not acquire a plowing horse. But in the other
hand, Albert, who watched Joey born, was happy. Rosie got surprised that Ted
bought Joey for 30 Guineas. Rosie knew that they won’t afford the money for
renting on Lyons’ land. Shortly after, Albert then trains Joey for a short
time.
Lyons saw that the Narracotts won’t afford the rent because
of Joey. Ted had no choice but to use Joey to plow the bottomfield; an area
that was full of stones and is hard to be plowed. Joey seems to refuse to use the harness. Disappointed, Ted bring his sawed-off shotgun and aim at Joey. Albert and Rose stop him and Albert asks him to give him and Joey time. When they're plowing, the land is near-impossible to be plowed and laughs and mocks are everywhere around them. After a few attempts, rain falls. The soil become soft and Joey manages to
plow the field and happiness flow in The Narracotts. After patching up Joey and
Albert, Rose explains why Ted drinks and limping. Rose said that Ted took part
in the Boer war in Africa. Ted killed lots of men and saw his mates got killed.
He drinks in order to forget what happened in the past. Albert then took Ted’s
sash. Ted start to farm and Albert takes Joey to gallop around the field.
Shortly after, a heavy rain came down to the area. The rain destroyed the
crops, making the Narracotts to become desperate.
The town has an announcement that the war is coming; the
Germans are advancing towards France. On the other side, Albert runs towards
the stable to greet Joey. But what he found that Joey was nowhere to be found.
Albert asked Rose about what happened, and assuming that Ted took Joey. Rosie’s
face expression makes Albert’s assumption true, then Albert rushes to the town
where Ted took Joey.
In the town, young men volunteered themselves to war. The
scene then focuses on Ted that sells Joey to become a warhorse. Albert
interfere it and asking to join the army if they take Joey. But Albert age was
below 19, that means he can’t join the army yet. Captain Nicholls of the army
see the bond between Albert and Joey, he then promise to Albert that he will
take care of Joey like Albert did. Before Joey goes, Albert ties Ted’s sash to
her neck, stating that the sash will bring good luck to Joey.
Joey then had taken to the tables and meet Topthorn the
Stallion. At that time, Joey is still uncomfortable but in short period of time
she becomes calm. The next morning all horses were train to gallop. As the
horses gallop, we could see that Topthorn and Joey are equal in speed but in
the end, Joey is faster than the Topthorn. Joey and Topthorn seem to have a relationship
.
The scenes take us where the British has across the border
and prepare to ambush the German camp. The strategy seems to work; the Germans were
caught defenseless. As the British charge and shove the Germans to the nearby
forest, the Germans man the machineguns that hide in the bushes. The
machineguns slaughter the British army, including Captain Nicholls. Fortunately
for Joey, Topthorn and several other horses, they dodge the bullets and gallop
across the machineguns. Joey and the others were taken until Topthorn and Major
Jamie Stewart was the last man standing. Knowing that he can’t escape from the
Germans, Major Jamie surrenders. One of the German Officer state that they won’t
leave the camp unguarded. After he said that, the camera goes upward and we see
many horses and men were slaughtered. The scene then proceeds to Joey and
Topthorn was taken to the German HQ.
Well, that was the first part! It’s almost half-way, so I
might write the Part 2.
Well, off I go! (rides a horse and gallops to the sunset)
