Should the father of 13 year-old boy, who killed seven people and injured others in a car accident, be held responsible for allowing his son to drive underage?

There are lots of issues and reports of car accident. Among those reports is the Underage Driving Accident. People love cars; they can make you travel with your loved ones or make you stylish. But should a 13 year-old boy and other underage-driving children drive around with their cars? This is a very important issue because recently, there is a car accident which involves Ahmad Dhani’s youngest son: Ahmad Abdul “Dul” Qodir Jaelani. Dul was involved in a deadly pile-up on Jagorawi toll road south of Jakarta early on Sunday that claimed seven lives. Dhani is responsible for Dul’s car accident because he was the one who raise and treat Dul.

From news report, Dul had claimed seven lives during the car accident at it are stated that Dhani is aware that Dul make his driver go on a holiday before the car accident. Dhani’s Brother, Jerry, said Dul was never allowed to drive and that the car was Dhani’s. The police also found out that there is tires’ mark on the road; indicates that the car is swerving. This indicates that Dul was driving recklessly.

Due to this accident, Dul can be charged for underage and reckless driving which took other lives. By law, this is punishable with six years of imprisonment according to Sr. Comr. Rikwanto, the Jakarta Police spokesman. But the Indonesian Police Watch chairman Neta S. Pane said that considering his juvenile status, Dul only be charged with half the maximum jail term, as regulated in article 26 of the Criminal Code.

The thing is that Dul lost his memories. The last he remembered is that he is trying to get in front of another car, which means that Dul is really drive recklessly. But on the other hand, Dul might tell the truth. Dul’s girlfriend said that when she wanted to be drop-off on the nearest mall. They wait there but the Taxi didn’t show up. She said that Dul insisted to take her home. After taking her to home that, Dul is rushing to get home, which lead to a devastating accident.

Dhani is very responsible for this, as he is the one who treat his sons. He also allows his kids to drive underage and allows them to get a driver license; he is too pampering his sons. Neta also said the Dhani must also be brought to justice for allowing Dul to drive. Article 57 of the Criminal Code says anyone who intentionally provides an opportunity or facilitates a crime faces the same sentence as charged to the perpetrator.

My conclusion is that Dhani is responsible for Dul’s Car Accident because he is the one who treat and raise his children on that way. Article 57 of the Criminal Code says anyone who intentionally provides an opportunity or facilitates a crime faces the same sentence as charged to the perpetrator. This means that Dhani will also get the punishment like Dul did (but Dul’s halved).
